US manufacturing activity weakens unexpectedly in August PDF Print E-mail
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) – Manufacturing activity has weakened considerably in the United States in September, against the experts expectations of a slight recovery, according to the latest Empire State manufacturing index although new orders and shipments rose somewhat to levels slightly above zero.

General business conditions dropped 10 points to a level of -7.4 from 2.8 in August, whereas market analysts had advanced a slight recovery to 3.7. New orders index, a gauge to assess activity over the next months, has increased to 4.38 from -1.20 in August.

The Employment sub index has deteriorated further to a level of -4.60 from -4.49 in August, while the prices received index has moderated to a level of 24.14 from 32.58 in August.
