US initial jobless claims increased against expectations in Sept 13 week PDF Print E-mail
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) – Initial jobless claims have posted an unexpected increase in the week of September the 13th, while the volume of continuing claims declined in the previous week according to data released by the U.S. Labor Department.

Claims for unemployment by freshly laid-off workers have increased by 10,000 in the week of September 13 to 455,000, despite the market’s expectations of a decline by the same figure. The 4-week moving average, considered more trustworthy, as it erases seasonal effects, has increased by 5,000 to 445,000.

The amount of continuing claims has declined by 55,000 in the week of September the 6, to 3,478,000, although the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remains unchanged from the previous week at 2.6%.
